Regional agencies report abundant reservoir gains; no conservation anticipated

Nevada Irrigation District and Placer County Water Agency officials told the Placer County Agricultural Commission on Jan. 12 that reservoirs and lakes have seen above-average storage and recent, substantial inflows.
Greg Jones of Nevada Irrigation District reported specific levels, noting Bowman Lake at '42.23”; 150% of ave' and total NID reservoir storage at 246,138 acre-feet, or '129% of 12 yr ave.' Jones said NID 'has lots of water and everything is spilling, with Scotts Flat spilling later in the week.' Daryl Hensler of the Placer County Water Agency said Hell Hole was at '165% of ave' and Lake Spaulding at '155% of ave,' and that his agencies saw a gain of 54,000 acre-feet in the Middle Fork Reservoir and 60,000 acre-feet in Spaulding in the previous two weeks.
Both presenters characterized the water year as favorable: Hensler said the agency anticipates no need for conservation at this time. The commission received the updates during its Information Items section; no action was taken.
