Kingsbury County adopts rangeland fire assistance resolution, appoints rural fire coordinator

The Kingsbury County Board of Commissioners on April 21 adopted Resolution 2026-6 to authorize specified individuals to request rangeland fire assistance under SDCL 41-20A-11 and to appoint the county auditor as the County Rural Fire Coordinator. The resolution reads in part, “BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that the list of individuals set forth below, are hereby authorized to request rangeland fire assistance, on behalf of the County of Kingsbury as specified in SDCL 41-20A-11.” The resolution also appoints Echo Steffensen as the single point of contact for administrative matters related to the Rangeland Fire Agreement and states that the authority continues until modified by the Board. The effective date listed in the record is May 20, 2026.
