Avon approves sidewalk program and authorizes bids for pavement marking and resurfacing

Avon City Council adopted Resolution No. R-5-26 declaring the necessity to construct concrete sidewalks to complete the 2026 sidewalk program and recorded plans to proceed. Council also authorized advertising for bids for the 2026 pavement marking program (R-6-26) and the 2026 pavement resurfacing program (R-7-26).
During discussion on the sidewalk program, Council Member Jennifer Demaline asked about timelines and resident notifications; City Engineer Ryan Cummins explained that an authorized purchase order is required before surveying and that plans would be available after several weeks. Mayor Bryan Jensen said Zoning Enforcement Officer Mrs. Clements would send notification letters immediately after passage to residents who need contract agreements or further communication.
All three measures were adopted after motions to suspend rules, each by recorded vote of 7–0. Council noted the City has contractors available and will bill or assess residents for any contracted work where applicable.
