County to submit 10‑year waste estimates to support landfill cell expansion

Commissioners discussed the landfill partnership of surrounding counties, per‑county shares and how long current site capacity will last; staff said current expansions should buy decades of life for the site and noted that the county is one of five partner counties in the Central Solid Waste Commission. The board voted to authorize the chair to submit the estimate to the Central Solid Waste Commission and MPCA as part of the certificate of need process.
