Alpena awards $248,375 green stormwater project, leveraging $115,000 grant

Shields said the work includes reconstruction of a parking lot at Third and River and a green bump-out at the DDA building on Old Washington and Chisholm; the contractor will perform site preparation and the planting window is anticipated to be around Oct. 1 when the planting partners will install vegetation. Council noted the project’s tie to the city’s “Lake Huron Forever” and related environmental commitments.
