Jordan River Commission pitches 6th-grade watershed curriculum to district

Frances Schneider, education intern with the Jordan River Commission, spoke during public comment to introduce the "Love Your Watershed" curriculum and asked the Davis School District to consider partnership to bring it to 6th-grade classrooms.
"My name is Frances Schneider. I'm the education intern with the Jordan River Commission," Schneider said, describing the commission as "a partnership of local government, state agencies, and community organizations" that works to protect and restore the Jordan River and its watershed. She said the curriculum combines classroom lessons, field experiences and service learning to teach water quality, stormwater and stewardship.
Schneider said the long-term vision is to expand the curriculum to every eligible 6th-grade classroom across the seven school districts bordering the Jordan River. She requested an opportunity for longer follow-up conversations with district staff to discuss partnership models and implementation logistics.
Board members did not take immediate action; the comment was recorded and the district indicated it would follow up with the commenter and relevant staff.
