Senate approves change letting online open-enrolled students join more extracurriculars per term

"So the difference here is, rather than 2 per year, it's, 2 per academic term or, normally we'd call that 2 per semester," Senator Taylor said during opening remarks. The chamber adopted House Amendment 5056, the Senate concurred and read the bill for final passage. The roll call recorded 47 ayes and 0 nays and the bill was declared passed by constitutional majority.
The change shifts the participation limit from a school‑year basis to a term/semester basis for online open‑enrolled students, subject to any additional approvals by the resident district. The Senate moved the bill forward without further floor debate.
