DeWitt County approves guardrail engineering and professional services contracts; engineer salary resolution carried

Commissioner Prestegaard told the Board the Road & Bridge committee reviewed a rollover salvage estimate for a tandem involved in an accident and that County Engineer Mark Mathon is negotiating salvage value with the insurer.
The Board approved an agreement with Cummins Engineering Corporation for plan preparation of Section 25-00007-03-SP (guardrail repairs) with funding up to $12,000 authorized. Later the Board approved professional services agreements with Chastain & Associates for both the Revere Road and Madison Street projects. A previously tabled resolution from July 24 to set the salary and expenses of the DeWitt County Engineer (Section 25-00000-00CS & 25-CS039-00-AC) was also approved.
All motions recorded in the minutes carried with Aye votes from Hammer, Prestegaard, Walters, Werts, Witte, Carter and Ferguson. Commissioner Rentmeister said the Highway Department accepted the county’s final offer on a personnel matter that is expected to be brought to the full board for a November vote.
