Resident and Farmer City leaders urge DeWitt County to block Santa Anna solar project

During public comment at the Oct. 23 DeWitt County Board meeting, resident Moe Winstead asked the Board to represent and protect local residents and described direct impacts he associates with the proposed Santa Anna solar project.
“He said he has had people walking through his property, drones flying so low his dog tries to jump up and catch them and reminded the Board that they rezoned his neighbor’s property so he could have a gun range, which faces the proposed solar farm, and allowing the solar farm would shut his gun range down.”
Mayor Scott Testory of Farmer City also spoke briefly, saying Farmer City residents and the Farmer City council oppose the solar farm and that the City has sent two resolutions to the county showing its opposition. The Clerk confirmed the Board received the correspondences and that the supplemental resolution was forwarded to the full Board.
No Board action on the Santa Anna project was recorded at the Oct. 23 meeting; the meeting proceeded to other agenda items including motions approving decommissioning and complaint plans for other solar applicants.
