Parkland honors National History Day, Science Olympiad and other student winners

Superintendent Mark Madsen and committee chairs recognized Parkland students for state and national placements in National History Day, Science Olympiad, Delaware Valley Science Fair and PJAS during the board meeting.
The meeting opened with a lengthy student‑recognition segment celebrating Parkland students’ achievements in history competitions, Science Olympiad and regional science fairs. Administrators and advisers called students to the stage and described award-winning projects, including a Spring House Middle School team that took second at nationals in the group documentary competition and a Spring House Science Olympiad team that won the Pennsylvania state championship and placed 7th at the national tournament.
Several individual students described their projects for the board, including a Parkland High School entrant who said the project examined planned obsolescence and corporate responsibility. Board and staff praised teachers, coaches and advisers and invited families to take photos as certificates were presented.
