Board approves textbook adoptions and Title I–IV grant applications for 2025–26
Summary
Parkland trustees approved multiple textbook adoptions for secondary social studies, world languages and elementary language arts and authorized applications for Title I–IV federal grant allocations totaling several hundred thousand dollars.
The board approved several curriculum and program recommendations from the Academic, Arts & Athletics committee. The Parkland Social Studies Department recommended AP African American studies and other resources (secondary social studies adoption $5,879.27 for cited title). A comprehensive world languages and AP resources package and an elementary English language arts adoption (Great Minds Arts and Letters) were also approved; the world language package was presented with multi‑year costs totaling $689,535.89 and the elementary ELA adoption totaled $863,940.66 for phased implementation.
Trustees also authorized administration to apply for federal Title allocations for 2025–26: Title I allocation was presented as $1,478,260; Title II allocation $223,377; Title III allocation $64,680; and Title IV allocation $110,938. Board members noted that some grant amounts cover multi‑year commitments and that nonpublic allocations were estimated pending final enrollment counts. Motions to approve the adoptions and grant applications passed by voice vote.
