DePuy house, with proposed landscaping to restore a more traditional Main Street frontage and to screen the new rear buildings. Thompson said the applicant is proposing five street trees and staggered rows of arborvitae to screen the new building; he also noted that the parking and access patterns largely retain existing arrangements and that one small non-historic garage would be removed.
Board members expressed interest in seeing material samples and a rendering that overlays the proposed new units with the historic house to assess the visual relationship. Several members asked for a view-shed analysis showing both newly planted (5–6 feet) and mature (15+ feet) arborvitae heights; the applicant agreed to provide those materials and to return after the zoning-board hearing in February, which could alter the unit count. The board did not vote and left the item for a future meeting pending additional submittals.
