Lake Alfred honors Parks Month, police training award and longtime finance employee

At its July 20 meeting the commission issued a Parks & Recreation proclamation, recognized the Police Department for a Lexipol training award, and honored Finance employee Mary Johnson for 15 years of service.
The commission on July 20 read a proclamation recognizing July as National Parks & Recreation Month and acknowledged local park programs, volunteer efforts and facilities such as Mackay Gardens and Lakeside Preserve and Central Park.
Public Safety Director Art Bodenheimer introduced police and communications staff and highlighted a department training program that requires monthly training assignments and supports policy updates; the department received recognition from Lexipol. Finance Director Amber Deaton recognized Mary Johnson for 15 years with the city and praised her service to residents, mentoring of staff, and ongoing dedication. "Mary’s dedication to our citizens exemplifies the spirit of service that defines Lake Alfred," Deaton said.
Commissioners and staff thanked volunteers and employees for their service.
