Commission approves Eden Hills Phase III future land use and zoning changes

The Lake Alfred City Commission unanimously approved Ordinances 1575-26 and 1576-26 on second and final reading on July 20, 2026, to restore prior land-use and zoning designations for a portion of an owner-initiated parcel in the Eden Hills development.
City staff said the request would reassign approximately 12.37 acres of a larger 37.59-acre parcel located at 0 Highway 557 in the Green Swamp Critical Area of State Concern to a Future Land Use of Residential (RES) and a Zoning classification of Vintage Residential Neighborhood (VRN). Planning & Zoning voted unanimously to recommend approval at its April 30 meeting; the Florida Department of Commerce returned no objections, comments, or recommendations.
Mayor Mac Fuller opened the public hearings and, seeing no public speakers, closed them before the commission voted. Vice Mayor Nancy Daley moved to approve Ordinance 1575-26 on second and final reading; Commissioner Ronnie Robinson seconded. The motion carried unanimously. Commissioner Jack Dearmin then moved to approve Ordinance 1576-26 on second and final reading; Commissioner Robinson seconded and the vote was unanimous.
