Board tables proposal to replace Lift Stations 15 and 18 after safety, cost concerns

Robinson Engineering representatives presented master-plan data on July 14 describing potential benefits of replacing Lift Stations 15 and 18. Mr. Phil Schoon told the Board that Lift Station 15 recently experienced an incident that raised public-safety concerns and that Lift Station 18, which previously needed service two to three times per year, is now being serviced three to twelve times per month amid nearby development.
Schoon said each service call typically requires the Vactor truck and at least one worker to enter a manhole, and some incidents have followed vehicle strikes at roadside stations, requiring multiple personnel and hours of work. Board member Jim Mandon asked for projected cost-savings estimates before any approval. The Board ultimately tabled the matter (motion by Joe Broadaway, second by Gutierrez; vote 5–0) pending further cost analysis.
