Engineers recommend small right-of-way for SR-94/E. Reimer roundabout to cut costs

City Engineer Glenn Davis told the Public Ways Committee that a Stage I review submitted to the state identified a potential cost-and-schedule benefit to taking a small amount of right-of-way from the parcel north-northwest of the proposed roundabout at SR-94 and East Reimer. Davis said the parcel had been partially acquired previously and that obtaining the additional strip would avoid substantial utility relocations and excessive grading that could otherwise raise costs.
Davis said the schedule and process permit a partial or full take of the parcel and recommended staff prepare a formal request to present to Council. Committee members asked clarifying questions about the location (the row of trees marking the area) and Davis confirmed the parcel is vacant; staff will prepare materials for a Council action on the matter.
