Safety Director Dan Chafin told Council the proposed amendment to Section 152.033 resulted from a resident complaint about a trailer parked in a backyard on a cul-de-sac and differing interpretations between code enforcement and zoning staff. He said the simplest remedy was to add the word "rear" so the ordinance would read "front, rear, or side yards" and require vehicles to be parked on a pad or driveway; he emphasized the change does not ban backyard parking, only requires it to be on a pad. "The simplest solution was simply to add one word to Section 152.033 parked vehicle section, which was adding 'rear'," Chafin said.
Council Member Jeanne Hines was listed as the sponsor and Council moved the ordinance forward; the Clerk assigned Ordinance No. 26-067. The Committee heard no further questions at that time.
