Downtown residents say pavilion, theater reduced parking; request designated tenant spaces

Several downtown property owners and residents urged Wadsworth City Council to address a shortfall of public parking following recent downtown improvements. Deneen Kreuzer, who identified herself as a downtown building owner, said the new pavilion project removed or altered parking areas she and her tenants had previously used and reported instances of tenants receiving parking citations or having vehicles towed. "Downtown residents should not be required to set alarms to move vehicles during the night," Kreuzer told the Council.
Justin Wascak displayed a recently issued parking citation and said fines had increased substantially; he said the redesigned parking area accommodates far fewer vehicles than the former lot that served as overflow. Both commenters requested designated parking spaces for long-term downtown tenants and asked city staff to respond with possible solutions. Council did not make a policy decision at the meeting but acknowledged the complaints and the need to coordinate with administration on next steps.
