Council backs $101,100 appropriation so cemetery paving can proceed
Summary
Council reviewed a supplemental appropriation request of $101,100 to pave two sections of Woodlawn Cemetery (bid alternate #3). The city will pay up front and be reimbursed by the Cemetery Board upon completion; council moved the ordinance forward and planned suspension and calling.
Service Director Matt Hiscock told the committee the 2026 Street Improvement Program included bid alternate #3 covering four cemetery paving areas; the Woodlawn Cemetery Board chose to proceed with areas #1 and #2, and the low bids for those two areas total $101,100.
Hiscock said the city will finance the work and the Cemetery Board will reimburse the city when the project is completed. Council Member Chris Maxwell agreed to sponsor the supplemental appropriation ordinance (26-066) and indicated they should suspend and call to allow the work to proceed during the construction season.
