Planning staff recommends Murphy Oil site plan with shared-access condition; commission forwards recommendation

Planning staff told the commission that SR 26.05, a proposed Murphy Oil service station at the Publix/Point Clear site, is mostly compliant with standards but requires revisions on sidewalk connectivity, utilities under proposed driveways and the location of lot access points. "Staff does recommend approval of SR 26.05 Murphy Oil, site plan review, with 3 conditions," staff said, listing the items they expect the applicant to revise before council consideration.
Westland Miller of Ram Engineering, speaking for the applicant, said the team is prepared to extend the sidewalk, work with Fairhope utilities to resolve utility conflicts and has tentative agreement from the neighboring property owner to pursue a shared-access plan that would align access points and mitigate driveway conflicts. Commissioner 8 moved to recommend approval to city council with staff conditions and a required shared-access agreement; the motion passed unanimously by voice vote.
