The city manager asked the council for permission to submit an application for a $250,000 Municipal Investment Fund award that would not require a local match and would support efforts to connect private developers with financing and marketing for climate-friendly efficiency measures.
She said the sustainability coordinator and the Citizens' Advisory Committee had worked on the proposal and that, if the council is supportive, staff would return with a resolution on Feb. 10. "It's an excellent opportunity for us to pursue this as an added economic development tool," the city manager said. Council members indicated general support and asked staff to bring back a resolution on Feb. 10 for formal approval.
Staff described the program as a marketing- and partnership-focused tool to accelerate energy-efficiency upgrades in private development; no appropriation or match was requested at this stage.
