City Manager Matt (speaker 2) told the council he prepared a draft resolution opposing Enbridge's proposed pipeline expansion (referred to as Project Maple) that would increase the pipeline's capacity and therefore regional natural-gas throughput and associated emissions. He said the proposed resolution aligns with the city's interest in environmental stewardship and protecting resident health and economic interests.
Several council members orally supported bringing the resolution back for formal consideration next week; staff will return with the prepared text for the council to debate and vote on at a future meeting.
