Sheriff Ryan Lee delivered the quarterly report, saying the detention center held 139 people as of the morning of the meeting (87 men, 47 women, 5 juveniles) and that 786 people were booked in the prior 93 days. He reported staffing openings in deputies, civilian controller, and cook positions and noted three dispatch vacancies with two backgrounds in process.
"As of yesterday morning, [we had] 139 prisoners," the sheriff said, and later described call loads and that the county had been negotiating a new lease with Motorola to upgrade servers and the Spillman records system. He also reported Fremont County was reimbursed $88,116 by the Wyoming Search and Rescue Council for mission costs from the prior year. Commissioners asked the sheriff to provide a consolidated status update within about four weeks on prior care-and-incident recommendations and on the server/spillman upgrade schedule.
The commission scheduled follow-up items, including an invitation for deputies to bring K-9 demonstrations to a future meeting and to receive a timeline for priority upgrade items and staffing adjustments.
