Board agrees to advertise fee changes; asks for animal shelter documentation on quarantine and adoption fees

County staff presented schedules of proposed fee increases for the Environmental Department and Animal Shelter/Control. The Board unanimously agreed to move forward with advertising the proposed Environmental fee changes in June and asked Animal Shelter staff to provide documentation detailing the rationale for any fee increases or decreases.
Supervisor Todd Robinson asked specifically about the quarantine fee, noting a proposed decrease from $100 to $25, and asked whether animals that leave the shelter are sterilized. Supervisor Dexter Jones asked whether the county should set adoption fees or address them case by case; Pollitt said staff would obtain documentation and return with specifics from the Animal Shelter.
