Commissioners decline automatic red‑flag burn ban but approve streamlined removal process

Emergency Manager Kristen Longville proposed revising the county burn ban policy to add an automatic ban when the County is under a red flag warning and to permit the Emergency Manager and Chairman to remove a burn ban after consulting local fire departments. The Board declined the proposal for an automatic ban but agreed to add language allowing the Emergency Manager and Chairman to remove a burn ban after consultation with local fire departments.
Longville also informed the board that Kingsbury County would host Crisis Track training and encouraged commissioners to complete Incident Command System training available online or in person. She will draft a revised resolution for the board to consider at the April 9, 2026 meeting.
