The district attorney was described as able to draft a conveyance that could require subleasing conditions in the deed.
Several board members expressed concern about ongoing costs and the risk of the property reverting to the district if covenant conditions are not met. The board voted to place the conveyance on the Aug. 18 agenda and requested follow-up documentation: letters of financial ability from the town, the most recent audits from the town and the Council of Southern Mountains, and any auction status related to other district parcels.
No final conveyance decision was made; staff were directed to gather the requested audits, written letters and legal options before the next meeting. The board asked for a work session to review documents and a separate special meeting for required special-education training.
