The City of Duncanville's presentation described the Hotel Occupancy Tax Fund as a visitor-driven revenue source, bringing in about $1,100,000 that is restricted to tourism, arts and events.
“We bring about 1,100,000 into the villa, and every dollar comes from visitors staying in Duncanville hotels, not residents,” the fund representative said, and added the fund allocates more than $417,000 for tournament grants aimed at drawing overnight visitors. The city framed these allocations as investments in tourism and exposure rather than general operating revenue.
