Commissioners approve STOP signs at SE 48th and S. Webb Road after sight-line study

The Harvey County Board of Commissioners voted June 17 to approve STOP signs installed at the intersection of SE 48th and S. Webb Road after Road and Bridge personnel reported limited sight lines and a history of accidents.
Road and Bridge Director Jim Meier told commissioners that three STOP signs were installed on May 15 after a site study and multiple citizen complaints. Leland Entz, Richland Township trustee, said the township supports the signage but was not notified before installation and asked who would maintain and be liable for the signs. Meier responded that “the county controls, maintains and is liable for all regulatory signs in the county.” Commissioners directed staff to prepare a resolution to adopt the signs so they are enforceable by law enforcement.
