VDOT outlines summer paving, ADA curb upgrades and construction timeline for Amelia County

VDOT reported county-wide asphalt and pothole repairs, slope mowing resumption, planned plant-mix paving on Route 360 in July/August 2026, ADA curb-ramp upgrades in the courthouse area, and noted a leased sweeper is not available until the new fiscal year.
A VDOT representative told the Board that maintenance crews continued asphalt and pothole repairs county-wide and that slope mowing had resumed on Route 616; primary mowing on Routes 360, 153 and 38 was forecast to begin May 1. Mrs. Worley said plant-mix paving on portions of Route 360 is scheduled for July–August 2026 and that surface-treatment operations were planned for late summer. She also said ADA curb ramps near the Amelia Courthouse will be updated to current standards.
Worley noted that VDOT historically swept courthouse-area roads before Amelia Day but that budget constraints mean no leased sweeper is available this fiscal year; VDOT plans to lease a sweeper in the new fiscal year beginning July 1. Supervisors raised local maintenance concerns (potholes on Little Patrick Road and potential work near Mount Herman), and Worley confirmed patching and that traffic studies are being located.
