At the Sept. 25 meeting, Principal Shawn Collins updated the board on fall testing and Data Team meetings and said intervention groups were adjusted in anticipation of winter testing. Collins reported a "great Professional Development opportunity" on Sept. 12 featuring Gerry Brooks focused on culture and climate.
Representatives of the Marseilles Education Association, Tim Misener and Paula Wheeler, thanked staff for baked goods sold as part of a PTA fundraiser and noted that a 2nd-grade field trip took students to the Shabbonna Conservation Center. Collins also said Mrs. Bianchi is planning the next 8th-grade trip to Washington, D.C. On extracurriculars, baseball finished the season without a win for a very young roster; girls basketball is underway with a single 7th/8th team that includes some 6th-grade players.
Administrators reminded the board that Oct. 10 is County-Wide Institute Day with virtual and in-person professional development options and that Oct. 17 is the end of the first quarter, followed by parent-teacher conferences.
