Planning staff told the commission the Courthouse District received an Exploring Main Street designation and the BOOM (Building Opportunities on Main Street) study will bring consultants to assess five underutilized or vacant structures and deliver market-research information to property owners at no charge. The grant-funded effort is intended to unlock additional grant funding and development ideas for the district; the consultants will conduct history review and market research and hold a community visioning walk.
Staff announced the community visioning walk will take place on Sept. 10 and emphasized the consultants' services are free to property owners. "This project is being run through the CRC with the Department of Housing and community development... The information and the data that is provided by the consultants is free of charge for the property owners," Miss Johnson said.
