Board reviews student‑services policy updates and a package of bylaws; items return Dec. 18

Staff presented updates to multiple student‑services policies and a set of nine bylaws in the 9000 series. Changes align district regulations with recent state law and CSBA language; four policies will return for action on Dec. 18.
Dr. Dusan presented proposed updates to a series of administrative regulations and policies related to student services, including revisions to parent rights (AR 5020), noncustodial parent language (BP 5021), student and family privacy protections (BP/AR 5022), admission/residency rules (AR 5111 and AR 5111.1) and attendance exemptions/exclusions (AR 5112 series). He said the updates bring district language into alignment with recent state law and CSBA model language and that the legal and procedural updates will be reflected in the online policy manual after board approval.
Later the board reviewed nine bylaws in the 9000 series covering elections, resignations, filling vacancies, oath/affirmation, orientation, board training, legal protections, conflict of interest and policy alignment (BB9220, BB9222, BB9223, BB9224, BB9230, BB9240, BB9260, BB9270, BB9310). Dusan noted references to recent state statutes and CSBA guidance. Several items were presented for discussion and are scheduled to return for board action in December; administrative regulations will also return as information items.
