Food bank seeks council blessing for freezer expansion; council directs staff to draft lease

City Attorney Lyle Fuller suggested working with the Preston Community Foundation or structuring a lease that defines leasehold improvements and responsibilities; Fuller emphasized that any city expenditure must demonstrably benefit residents.
The council voted to direct staff (economic development and city attorney) to work with the proponents (identified in the meeting as Mr. Crager and Mr. Lundahl) to draft a formal lease and return with a proposal the council can consider. "We'll have Sean be kind of the liaison between the food pantry guys and Lyle," the presiding officer said, assigning staff to the task. The motion passed by voice vote.
