Peekskill staff to accept $300,000 Safe Streets planning grant; 25% match covered by DRI

Peter Erwin of the planning department told council the city was awarded a $300,000 planning grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation under the Safe Streets for All program and that the required 25% match ($75,000) can be provided by the DRI Pedestrian Connectivity Project.
"We were awarded a $300,000 planning grant through the United States Department of Transportation," Erwin said, adding that the grant would fund a consultant to produce a citywide traffic-safety plan addressing problematic intersections, pedestrian signaling, micro-mobility and bicycle access. He proposed two resolutions: accept the grant and issue an RFP for consultant services, and continue to seek capital funding to implement plan recommendations.
Council members asked that the resolution explicitly show the source of the match; staff agreed to spell out the DRI source when the resolution returns to the agenda for action.
