Council backs joining state lake federation and pursuing watershed technical assistance

Dave Rambo, representing the Federation of Lake Associations and Hudson River Watershed Alliance matters, told the council two opportunities to strengthen drinking-water source protection: joining the New York State Federation of Lake Associations to secure sampling access for Campfield Reservoir, and participating in a WQIP technical-assistance opportunity for land acquisition work.
"The 1st 1 is joining the, a lake association, New York State Federation of Lake Association," Rambo said, adding that the sampling opportunity carries a $250 fee that may be waived because Peekskill qualifies as a disadvantaged community or potential environmental justice area. He also said there is no local match for the WQIP technical support opportunity but noted only four locations would receive assistance statewide.
Council members voted unanimously to authorize staff to pursue the federation membership and the watershed technical assistance grant application and asked staff to return with any additional details or requirements and to sign applications where needed.
