Board approves four school appropriations including state bonus funds and GEAR UP partnership

The board moved and carried a motion to allow the school division to accept the state and federal funds.
The other appropriations approved were $30,000 in federal revenue for year one of a GEAR UP Longwood partnership (the school division will meet the match largely with in-kind staff time and facility use), $7,500 in state funds to continue a hometown-teacher incentive pilot, and $45,150 in federal Office of School Quality funds to support instructional improvement at Amelia County Elementary School. Finance staff said none of the four requests require new locality funding at this time.
