Skowhegan planning board tables appeal of cannabis cultivation site plan at 667 Waterville Road
Summary
The Skowhegan Planning Board on a motion tabled an appeal of a staff denial for a medical cannabis cultivation facility at 667 Waterville Road so the town can obtain a written security plan from the police chief and finalize outstanding fire and site-plan documentation. The applicant warned the tenant's state license could expire if the board delays beyond March 3.

The Skowhegan Planning Board on Tuesday tabled an appeal by the owners of property at 667 Waterville Road, where a tenant operates a medical cannabis cultivation facility, asking for more time to collect documentation and coordinate with public-safety officials. A board member moved to table the matter to allow staff to obtain the police chief's specific security concerns and to complete outstanding inspections; the motion carried.
Applicant Albert Kang told the board the Office of Cannabis Policy had inspected and approved the tenant's license and that the owners had spent heavily to bring buildings into compliance. "We have been we are almost $75,000 out of pocket," Kang said, urging the board to consider the project's remedial steps. The board directed staff to send a letter to the police chief requesting a written security plan (camera locations, motion-detection systems, locks) and scheduled the item for reconsideration at the March 3 meeting so the applicant could attempt to preserve the tenant's state license renewal window.
