On July 7, 2026 the Ford County Executive Committee voted to forward the appointment of Dominic Brackenhoff to the full county board to fill the District 1 seat on an interim basis until his elected term begins.
Carson Vaughn moved and Greg Niewold seconded forwarding Brackenhoff's appointment; the committee heard that Brackenhoff won the primary and that his elected term will begin on December 1, 2026, so he will serve as interim until that date. The committee also moved to declare a vacancy on the county board effective July 9, 2026 following the resignation submitted by Garett Kerbel (District 3), who is moving out of the county. The motions were recorded as approved by unanimous voice vote and will be placed before the full board for final action.
The committee noted that the Ford County Republican Committee will seek a replacement for the upcoming vacancy; if the party committee does not identify a replacement, the county board may appoint one.
