Ford County Board adopts COLA salary adjustments and flags unresolved payroll and ARPA items

The Ford County Board adopted resolutions 26-39, 26-40 and 26-41 implementing cost-of-living adjustments (COLA) for the public defender, the state's attorney and the sheriff pursuant to Illinois Department of Revenue guidance.
County Board member Sarah Mussman moved the set of resolutions and County Board member Greg Niewold seconded; roll call votes were recorded as unanimous. The Finance Committee discussed the preliminary budget and noted that ARPA claims remain largely outstanding and that the proposed budget does not yet reflect an expected health insurance increase.
The committee also flagged a WIPFLI payroll claim; the minutes record that the committee 'voted not to pay the bill until committee has voted not to pay' (minutes text fragmented) and that payroll has not been processed for that item because the committee chair wished to resolve the unbalanced budget issue before approving the claim. The minutes also note a tenant on the County Farms has an unpaid installment with a 2% penalty and that property tax letters have been issued.
The minutes do not record any public testimony against the COLA resolutions; all three resolutions passed on unanimous roll calls. The board encouraged continuing coordination between the Finance Committee and the Public Building Commission on budget matters.
