Ford County Board appoints Dominic Brackenhoff to District 1; vacancy declared after resignation

The Ford County Board adopted Resolution 26-38 appointing Dominic Brackenhoff to the Ford County Board, District 1, to fill an open seat.
County Board member Greg Niewold moved the resolution and County Board member Sarah Mussman seconded; the roll call vote was recorded as unanimous. Chairman Chase McCall explained that the Ford County Republicans are seeking a candidate to run on the ballot and must file by August 26, 2026. The minutes state the appointed seat will be filled through November 30, 2026 when the position returns to the ballot process.
In a separate motion the board voted to declare a vacancy effective July 9, 2026 after Garett Kerbel resigned from his Ford County Board seat (seat 3). The minutes note Kerbel moved out of state; the vacancy declaration and appointment were recorded during the same portion of the meeting.
The minutes do not record public comment on the appointment. The board also approved Resolution 26-37 re‑appointing Jeff Lattz to the Ford County Public Building Commission in the same section of the minutes.
