Piedmont Makers reports $31,000 in STEAM grants to district classrooms

Two representatives speaking during public comment announced that Piedmont Makers awarded a record $31,000 in grants to Piedmont Unified School District teachers for STEAM classroom projects. They described award highlights across elementary, middle, and high school programs — from library STEAM books and kindergarten math manipulatives to AP biology equipment and music technology at the high school — and noted 32 applications requested roughly $60,000 while the group funded 24 projects.
Piedmont Makers said awardees and students will present projects at the Makers Fair on Sunday, May 18. Board members thanked the organization and encouraged families to attend; the superintendent and trustees also acknowledged the foundation's ongoing partnership in supporting student learning.
"Piedmont Makers granted a record $31,000 to Piedmont Unified School District this year to teachers to inspire and support implementing innovative hands-on classroom experiences," the presenters stated during public comment.
