Long Prairie continues door-to-door lead service-line inventory funded by state grant

City officials told the council that Bolton & Menk staff began door-to-door visits on Aug. 21 to visually confirm building service-pipe materials for the city's lead service-line inventory, a project paid for by a Minnesota Department of Health grant. City Administrator Candace Bruder said the information is posted on the city website and "has been broadcasted on the radio" to notify residents about the door-knocking; she added there are still a few hundred residents for whom service-line material has not been identified.
Bruder said the Minnesota Department of Health indicated additional funding may be available in future years to help address identified lead lines. The council did not take a funding vote at this meeting; staff will continue inventory work and return with further findings as they identify properties with lead service lines.
