Mayor Jim Kreemer told the council the Chavez Event Center plans to host a rodeo at the Todd County Fairgrounds on Sept. 13 and that the organizer’s caterer’s license allows them to serve alcohol statewide; the organizer will notify the police department and provide 10 additional security guards. The council acknowledged the rodeo and noted the police department will patrol the area during the event.
Separately, St. Mary’s of Mount Carmel requested route approval for its Hot Cakes Hustle on Sept. 27. Chief Hanson recommended routing 4th Ave S on the sidewalk to avoid state roadway review; the council approved the route as agreed with the police chief. Council members Perez, Krueger and Bolton & Menk offered $250 donations toward race prizes to be disbursed to winners.
