The Vernon County Planning Commission approved language copied from the county Land & Water Conservation Plan and agreed to reference the Board of Supervisors’ resolutions in the comprehensive plan’s existing-conditions section.
Commission members discussed whether to include more prescriptive repair language; one committee member proposed using the Land & Water text but changing 'fixing' language to 'managing' to avoid implying a committed repair program. Staff confirmed the text will be cut-and-paste, adjusted for tense and clarity, and include citations to the resolutions adopted in August 2024. "That way when you're when you have that goal, you know, it's tying back to that," a commissioner said when proposing the citation change.
A motion to adopt language from the Land & Water Conservation Plan and to add references to resolutions 38 and 39 to the existing-conditions summary passed by voice vote. Staff will prepare the final text and the resolution packet for the county board.
