Council thanks volunteers after backpack giveaway and urges caution for school start

Council members thanked volunteers and partner organizations after a backpack giveaway that served roughly 180 students and highlighted collaboration with Oasis Church, Pathway Church, the health department and a TMMI grant.
"We had a 180 students, go through that, receive their, school supplies for this coming year," the Chair said, thanking local churches and businesses that helped distribute supplies and noting a bus from North Gibson School Corporation helped kindergarten students acclimate to the bus experience. Separately, a council member urged drivers to be patient and careful as the school year starts because the backside of the North Gibson Learning Campus is closed, which will increase traffic on Warnock.
Members expressed appreciation for community partners and volunteers who supported the event and encouraged safe driving in school zones as classes begin.
