Resource and community development staff said the county has roughly $300,000 left in HoChunk (25) funds from the 2025 allocation and asked the committee how it wanted to proceed. “I think we have about $300,000 remaining of ho chunk funds that we have left over that we didn't assign during the budget process, and we need to do that by March,” the staff member said.
Committee members debated whether to let departments re-submit previously rejected projects, require new proposals, or revise the scoring process used last cycle. Several members favored reopening the process and asking departments to align requests with board-established long-range goals for 2026. Staff said a February committee review and a full-board action in March would meet the appropriation timeline.
The committee directed staff to start a new request cycle and to bring a clear timeline and any suggested scoring changes back to the committee for review in January/February.
