The council recognized several staff promotions and new hires during the meeting's ceremonial portion.
Police Chief Jeremy Bowers introduced Support Services Commander Maren Morris, recounted her experience at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and Shafter PD, and presented a pinning ceremony attended by Morris's family. Chief Bowers praised Morris's fit for the role and said the position "is one of the most essential critical positions in our organization" for coordinating records, dispatch and reporting to state and federal partners.
Chief Bowers also announced the promotion of Mercedes Bolds to dispatch supervisor and said Measure F enabled the city to add two dispatch positions. Recreation Director Shelly Putzer introduced new recreation staff (Nae Gonzalez) and Janae, the new recreation coordinator for sports. Putzer said the middle‑school athletics program has about 600 participants across eight sports and 18 teams; Janae told the council, "I'm really thankful to be a part of the Piedmont community again, and I'm just grateful for the opportunity."
