Piedmont officials say dispatch remodel on track; aim to energize systems this spring

The project scope includes structural reinforcement, conduit and communications installs, HVAC and integration with backup power and county partners for redundancy during the cutover.
Police Chief Jeremy Bowers and project participants noted that the city used federal ARPA funding for core construction elements and Measure F to support the human‑resources side of the dispatch operation. Chief Bowers emphasized redundancy planning and community benefit, saying the improved dispatch is intended to bolster public‑safety response and continuity of essential services during the transition.
Council members praised the team for keeping the service fully functional during construction and for leveraging additional PSAP console funds to offset costs. Staff said they would plan a public tour or open house before the center goes fully operational.
