Union City to seek up to $100,000 in CDBG funds for stormwater repairs at Municipal Lot #1

The Union City Borough Council voted Sept. 16 to apply to the county for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding—up to $100,000—to pay for a portion of stormwater repairs in Municipal Lot #1.
Streets Supervisor Bob Phillips said the borough met with Solicitor Tim Wachter and recommended a series of repairs: Mansfield will fill the sinkhole, replace roughly 10 feet of pipe and install a new catch basin; "It was recommended that we do a smoke and dye test" after that work is complete, Phillips said. Quotes have been requested from JT Patching and Paving and Cross Paving for paving the area; affected businesses and the Union City Volunteer Fire Department will be notified before testing.
Councilor Steadman moved and Councilor Osborn seconded approval to submit a CDBG application for up to $100,000; the motion carried unanimously.
