Commissioners approve application and acceptance of SHSP and health grants totaling $119,000

The board also accepted $112,000 in award funds from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security for an MX908 portable screening device to detect trace explosives or chemical warfare agents for jail or patrol incidents; no county match is required. Commissioner Murtaugh moved to accept the grant and President Brown seconded; the motion carried.
The Health Department accepted $7,000 from Indiana University Health to support a Fetal-Infant Mortality Review (FIMR) awareness program and a community baby shower event. County staff presented these as routine grant acceptances and the motions to accept were approved at the July 20 meeting.
